On March 27, 2026, the China-United States Exchange Foundation (CUSEF) hosted the 3rd U.S.-China Art Dialogue at Alisan Fine Arts. Continuing its dedication to using art as a catalyst for deeper connection and mapping the future of collaborative cultural engagement, the event introduced a podcast-style format, transforming the gallery space into a live recording studio.
Moderated by CUSEF President James Chau, the Dialogue brought together influential arts leaders, including Daphne King Yao, Global Director of Alisan Fine Arts and Chair of the Asian Cultural Council Hong Kong; Ruby Yang, Director of the School of Future Media at the University of Hong Kong and Academy Award-winning documentary filmmaker; Kingsley Ng, Artist and Associate Professor at the Academy of Visual Arts, Hong Kong Baptist University; Philip Tinari, Deputy Director and Head of Art at Tai Kwun Arts; Alan Lo, Chair of Para Site and Global Council Member of the Museum of Contemporary Art Los Angeles; and Alice Mong, President of Asia Society Hong Kong Center.
In his welcome remarks, Mr. Chau emphasized the enduring mission of the Dialogue: “This dialogue is a continuation of an idea, a belief that art is one of the most powerful bridges between peoples, cultures, and even nations.”
The three dialogue sessions were themed "The Responsibility of Art Creation," "Diplomacy and the Art of Connection," and "Hong Kong as a Hub for Cultural Futures," with speakers exploring the multifaceted role of art in contemporary society from diverse perspectives.
This year's Dialogue was strategically timed during Hong Kong Art Week and Art Basel Hong Kong. As an international city where East and West converge, Hong Kong showcased its unique charm as a global cultural hub.
Recordings of the conversations will be released as a podcast series in the coming weeks, allowing the public to revisit these insightful dialogues.
